Spire Payments and its local partner Servus deliver end-to-end payments solution to Romania’s leading retail bank, BRD. This 4 million Euro project encapsulates all aspects of a payment solution including countertop and mobile POS end-points, asset and remote key management systems, and the latest transaction switching capability. Seen as the country’s second largest project of its type, this marks a milestone in the transformation of Romanian’s payment infrastructure.
The omni-channel solution utilises Spire Payments latest PCI 4.x accredited countertop (SPc5) and mobile (SPg7) end-points powered by bespoke modular applications. The deployed estate is remotely monitored/managed by Spire’s Asset Control Environment (ACE) and Remote Key Loading Manager (RKLM). This combined capability allows remote end-point configuration, security key updates, health monitoring, and application management. In addition the interface to BRD’s helpdesk allows optimised call handling and estate performance monitoring thanks to the generation of reports. This far reaching capability allows BRD to optimise the cost of ownership of its end-point estate, while also offering best-in-class service to its merchant base.
Spire has selected its chosen partner for transaction processing; NewNet to provide the hardware and software to complete the installation. This has not only optimised transaction processing speeds, but also increased the systems’ capacity three-fold while meeting TLS 1.2 security requirements. Fully integrated into BRDs IT infrastructure the scalable solution offers peace of mind for BRD and its customer regarding obsolescence since the newly deployed end-points are PCI current until 2026 (sunset date).
BRD has circa 7,500 employees, over 850 branches and in excess of 24,000 POS terminals installed at merchant sites. With extensive experience in delivering the highest quality of service to its customers (from individuals to corporate), this project further strengthens the bank’s dominant position in the market.
Spire Payments’ local partner Servus, is a market pioneer in the delivery of integrated end-to-end solutions within the payments market. With 20 years’ experience, it is a leading supplier of payment technology (ATM, POS and mPOS), field support and help desk capabilities to multiple regions.
Raluca Aelenei, Servus General Manager comments on the announcement, “This is a land mark project in the history of Servus. BRD is an extremely important customer to us, and the ability to implement Spire Payments’ technology at multiple levels has provided an extremely powerful solution for the bank moving forward.”
Tai-Kei Cheung, President Spire Payments: “This project is the perfect illustration of Spire Payments’ capability to provide a full end-to-end solution by working closely with our trusted partners such as Servus and NewNet. The end-point is an important part of any payment solution, but the applications which reside on the devices, the remote management systems, and switching capability are just as essential to deliver a secure and scalable solution.”
