Sudan-based Al Khaleej Bank has selected Path Solutions and its iMAL platform to power its core banking operations. Headquartered in Khartoum, Al Khaleej Bank is an Islamic institution focusing on corporate banking and micro-finance. The bank also finances agricultural and industrial projects in Sudan. It operates both SMS and internet banking services.
Ali Omer Ibrahim Farah, general manager at the bank, says that it selected iMAL to better align with its customers’ expectations by offering “innovative banking and payment solutions” consistent with the bank’s business strategy.
He adds that iMAL’s “rich banking functionality” is the “perfect partner” for the bank’s ambitions of becoming a leader in the Sudanese banking sector.
Mohammed Kateeb, group chairman and CEO of Path Solutions, says that his firm is excited to partner with the bank and help it grow by offering “an innovative banking experience that benefits both their employees and customers alike.”
Al Khaleej Bank is among a bevy of Sudanese financial institutions revamping their technology in recent times, following the recent lifting of 17-year sanctions by the US.
Earlier this month Ziraat Participation Bank, a subsidiary of Turkish firms Ziraat Katlin Bankasi and Ziraat Finans Group, also opted for iMAL. Balad Bank and Nile Bank both signed for Oracle at the start of the year.
